The best power packs are light-weight, portable and are able to be charged with a solar panel.  Ideally, you will want your panel to track the Sun, however, if that is not possible then simply prop a solar panel up and direct it toward the Sun. In the event of a disaster these power packs will produce useable power in the form of DC and or AC power.

What do you want to power?

How long to do you want to power it?

How much current does your solar panel produce?

How portable do you need to be?

Do you need to operate sensitive electronics?

Do you need to run a large motor?

Does the power pack offer expandability?

 

 

Naturally, a gas powered generator is nice to have but what happens when gas is not available. In a crisis fetching fuel could be life threatening. This is when mechanical power generation might be an option.
